International Gift Orders
Shipping gifts to international destinations can be tricky as each country has different import regulations. Below are some recommendations we have when shipping gifts internationally to ensure the recipient has a smooth experience.
DDP (Delivered Duties Paid)
To avoid delays in customs and having your recipient pay fees ensure the order has DDP (Delivered Duties Paid) selected as the Incoterms for the order. This will allow you as the sender to cover the costs of duties and taxes for the shipment. Here's how to complete this-
From app.shiphero.com, navigate to Orders > Manage Orders.
Select the individual order you would like to update.
Under Details, scroll down to Incoterms and select the DDP option. Then click Update Details to save the selection
Your order will now be saved with DDP aka Delivered Duties Paid
FTR Exemptions
Depending on the destination country, specific FTR exemptions may apply to the shipment. Below are insights into common destinations and how to apply the appropriate FTR exemption to the order-
Destination | FTR Exemption | Conditions |
Canada | 30.36 | If no export license is required. |
UK | 30.37(a) | If value ≤ $2,500 and no license is required. |
EU | 30.37(a) | If value ≤ $2,500 and not a controlled product. |
Australia | 30.37(a) | Same as EU/UK. |
Japan | 30.37(a) | Same as EU/UK. |
From app.shiphero.com, navigate to Orders > Manage Orders.
